Tres piezas (Three pieces) (Two Flutes and Piano)
Description
Tres piezas by Esperanza Zubieta
Llanto (Crying)
Tonal prelude, in which over a piano accompaniment in a sort of a lament, one can listen to an intimate and sobbing flute consolation.
Una tarde de febrero (A February afternoon)
Short impressionistic prelude which subtly describes the pleasant “wait” at the Pombo cafe… in a February afternoon.
A dormir van las rosas (The roses go to sleep)
Prelude basically built with the Phrygian scale, wrapped up or sometimes simultaneously combined with the Spanish and the hexatone scales.
Curiously, the lullaby on which this piece is based, by Castro Urdiales, which I learned from my mother, uses the same type of scale as the Flamenco music. This is the reason for this Andalusian feel.
