Timeline of Flute Center

Flute Center began as a simple idea—filling the need for professional flute repair in the industry. Founded by Phil Unger in a small basement, it has since grown into the leading name in flute repair and sales. Join us as we take you through the history of Flute Center, from its humble beginnings to its nationwide expansion.  

1978

Phil Unger graduates from Allied Repair School and begins his career at Culver Music in Dallas, TX.

 

1983

Phil opens The Woodwind Repair of Dallas in Fair Park, TX, marking the start of his independent business.

 

1995

Flute Center of New York is founded, opening its first location across the street from Lincoln Center.

 

2005

Flute Center of New York expands, relocating to 1841 Broadway.

 

2012

Julian Rose joins Flute Center of New York, bringing new leadership and business development.

 

2015

Flute Center of New York expands again, relocating to a bigger office in 1841 Broadway and launches its e-commerce website, expanding accessibility for flute players worldwide.

 

2017

Flute Center of New York hosted it's first live event in October with Nina Assimakopoulos.

 

2018

Rose Music is introduced, offering a dedicated platform for sheet music.

 

2019

Flute Center moves to its current flagship location at 307 7th Ave, and expands into accessories sales.

 

2023

Flute Center of New York rebrands as Flute Center.

 

2023

Flute Center Chicago opens in October, marking the company’s national expansion.

 

2024

Julian Rose becomes a co-owner of Flute Center, ushering in a new era of leadership.
