Catherine McMichael's Chrysalis was commissioned by Karen Van Dyke for the 20th anniversary of the Northern California Flute Camp. The title of the work encapsulates the metamorphic growth, change and development of students who are lucky enough to spend part of their summer at this camp. There are two movements (Evolving, Unfurling), and the work is scored for flute sextet or flute choir.
