Fantaisie (Two Flutes)
Description
Gabriel Fauré’s Fantaisie, Op. 79, is a brilliant and lyrical work for flute and piano, composed in 1898 as a competition piece for the Paris Conservatoire. Commissioned by Paul Taffanel, the leading French flutist and pedagogue of the time, the piece was designed to challenge students while showcasing the expressive and virtuosic capabilities of the flute. This flute duet arrangement preserves the original solo flute part while adapting the piano accompaniment for a second flute, making it ideal for teachers accompanying students or flutists who want the joy of ensemble playing without a piano.
