Tsuru-no-Sugomori (Flute Alone)
Description
Tsuru-no-Sugomori (Flute Alone) by Wil Offermans (b. 1957), published by Zimmermann, includes flute part only.
The Japanese shakuhachi is a flute made of bamboo whose tradition dates back as early as the 8th century. “Tsuru-no-Sugomori” is one of the most famous pieces of the shakuhachi solo repertoire. Wil Offermans transcribed it for the flute but still managed to retain the rough sound and the strong construction. His work combines traditional Japanese music with modern flute-playing techniques.
