Concerto in D Major (Flute and Piano)
Description
Piano reduction of the only Czech romantic flute concerto. Solo flute part revised and Foreword (Cz/Eng/Ger) by Lukáš M. Vytlacil.
The Flute Concerto by Vilém Blodek (1834–1874) enjoyed increasing popularity immediately after its premiere in 1862 and today it belongs to the standard concert repertoire for this instrument.
This piano reduction offers a well-manageable orchestral reduction by Petr Koronthály as well as the solo flute part in a revised version, as opposed to the Supraphon edition of 1961. The flautist, historian and musicologist Lukáš M. Vytlacil has made revisions on the basis of the surviving sources. In the process, later interpretative adaptations were removed from the flute part. In addition, the first movement is included here for the first time in its original, unabridged version.
