Quartet in F Major, Kv370 (Mozart); Quartet in F Major, Op. 8, No. 3 (Stamitz) (flute, violin, viola, cello)
Description
Two quartets from two masters of the form, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Karl Stamitz. The Mozart KV370 quartet is often considered one of Mozart's greatest compositions. These two quartets were originally written for oboe and strings, but are often played – as here – by flute because of their fine effect on that instrument. Both demonstrate a thorough command of the wind and string sonorities, and they form perfect projects for the chamber-minded flutist. Includes a newly engraved music score printed on high-quality ivory paper; and a compact disc containing a complete performance of the concerto in split-channel stereo, with the soloist on the right channel; and a second performance in full stereo minus the soloist.
Accompaniment: Members of the Beaux Arts String Quartet
