Flute Concerto in G Major, Op. 29 (Flute and Piano)
Description
Flute Concerto in G Major, Op. 29 (Flute and Piano) by Carl Philipp Stamitz, Published by Schott, Includes Flute part and Piano score.
The Concerto for Flute in G Major, Op. 29 by Carl Philipp Stamitz (1745 - 1801) was written circa 1780, just 2 years after Mozart wrote his seminal Flute Concerto, and there are resounding similarities between the two. From the principal tonality and the form of each of the three movements to the elegant style and the quintessentially “Classical” nature of the piece, Stamitz’s Concerto could rightly be looked at as “Mozart-light” in G Major. Were we not so blessed with the Mozart Concerti, the Concerto in G Major by Stamitz might well be considered one of the preeminent flute compositions of the 18th century.
This Piece made it onto our list of The 19 Best Flute Concertos Not by Mozart.
