Concerto In E Minor (Flute and Piano)
Description
Concerto In E Minor (Flute and Piano), By Saverio Mercadante (1795-1870), Published by Little Piper, Revised and Edited by Ervin Monroe.
A wonderful concerto from the late classic period. Mercadante's flamboyant style comes to life in this showy work and the fact that he studied flute is evident in the technical flare of the piece.
Written in 1819, this flute Concerto, Op. 57 Masterpiece by Saverio Mercadante (1795 - 1870) is one of the finest examples we have of an Early Romantic Concerto for Flute. Like the Devienne Flute Concerto and the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, this piece fits well under the fingers well, and the performer will benefit from the composer’s “flutistic” writing. If I could redo my college years, I would enter the Concerto Competition with this piece because of the endless virtuosity on display, and the crowd-pleasing aesthetic.
This Piece made it onto our list of The 19 Best Flute Concertos Not by Mozart.
