"Celebration" was written to celebrate the 90th birthday of Joseph Mariano and was performed at the National Flute Association Convention in August, 2001 by a large ensemble of his former students. Snippets of major flute repertoire are strewn throughout the piece, a sort of "inside joke" for flutists.
