Instrumentation: 4 Flutes, Alto Flute. Arranger Gisler-Haase finds that vocal music often lends itself well to the flute, since both are breath-dependent. For pedagogic use in flute ensemble classes, she turns to choral music of the Renaissance and Romantic periods, wherein all parts are of equal weight and all lines are melodic in nature. The present collection includes a range of repertoire, including works of Brahms, Schumann, Reger, and Kodaly. An included Alto Flute part can be substituted for Flute 4. An included play-along CD features all parts for home practice.
