Sankyo Day

Flute Center Presents

Sankyo Day

Live at FC New York | Tuesday, March 4, 2025 | 4-6PM ET

I want to attend this free event!

Curious about trying a Sankyo flute? Join Flute Center's Resident Flutists in New York on Tuesday, March 4, from 4–6 PM for an exclusive opportunity to explore a handpicked collection of Sankyo flutes!

Sankyo Flutes was founded in 1968 by Kikuo Hisakura, Hideo Takei, and Taichi Oki—three visionaries driven by a passion for sound. They saw flute-making as an art, not just a craft, and built their first flutes in a garage. Hisakura, a renowned flute-making genius, designed Sankyo’s mechanical systems, scale, and headjoints. His son, Yutaka Hisakura, now leads the company while continuing the tradition of hands-on craftsmanship. Takei, an expert in padding techniques, remains a regular visitor to the factory, while Oki later founded his own polishing company.

The name Sankyo means “three sounds,” symbolizing the connection between craftsman, musician, and audience. Each flute carries a secret—its true voice emerges when matched with the right flutist, a connection that defines the artistry of Sankyo Flutes.
