Praised by the Berkshire Eagle as “crystal clear and expressive,” Sean Marron is an emerging artist based in Rochester, New York. In 2022, Sean joined the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra as 2nd Flute and Piccolo at the age of 21, becoming the orchestra’s youngest member at the time. He has made multiple appearances as principal flute with the orchestra and made his solo debut in 2025, playing Bach’s Orchestral Suite no. 2. He holds a Bachelor and Masters degree from the Eastman School of Music, and he was a dual degree mathematics student at the University of Rochester before joining the RPO. In 2024, he was a co-winner of Eastman’s Tal Perkes Flute Competition. Sean has appeared at numerous festivals, such as the Tanglewood Music Center, National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute, Aspen Music Festival, and Bravo! Vail Music Festival, where he performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He has worked with conductors such as Andris Nelsons, Dima Slobodeniouk, Susanna Malkki, Marin Alsop, Stephane Deneve, and Xian Zhang, among others. As a chamber musician and recitalist, he can be heard in various venues around Rochester and Buffalo, and he was a semifinalist in the 2025 NFA Young Artist Competition. Sean has taught secondary lessons, coached woodwind quintets, and runs the flute orchestral excerpts class at Eastman. He also coaches high school chamber groups at the Hochstein School. Originally from Ridgewood, New Jersey, Sean attended the Juilliard Pre-College Division. His principal teachers include Bonita Boyd, Anne Harrow, and Bart Feller.
