This participatory workshop presents an overview of The Top Octave Book, as well as exercises and suggestions to improve tone and fluency in the top octave. We highly recommend having a copy of The Top Octave Book available for this workshop. The Top Octave Book can be purchased at the Flute Center.

PATRICIA GEORGE has served on the faculties of the Eastman School of Music Preparatory Department, Brigham Young University – Idaho, and Idaho State University. She was an artist teacher at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival at the University of the South for 19 years and principal flutist of the Elkhorn Music Festival/Sun Valley Summer Symphony for 13 years. She is the Editor of Flute Talk Magazine and writes the monthly column “The Teacher’s Studio.”  Her major flute teachers were Frances Blaisdell, Joseph Mariano, William Kincaid and Julius Baker.   She has presented more than 200 Flute Spa masterclasses across the United States and Europe.
