Emily Andenmatten (Wespiser) is an active teacher and performer living in Brooklyn, NY. Emily's most recent engagements include orchestral appearances with the Princeton Symphony, Symphony in C, Litha Symphony and One World Symphony. During her summers, Emily has performed at music festivals across the United States, including the Lake George Music Festival, the Brevard Music Center, and Opera in the Ozarks. Previously acting as the Detroit Civic Youth Orchestra mentor, she has played under esteemed DSO conductor Leonard Slatkin alongside international soloist Emanuel Ax.
An advocate for new music, Emily has premiered works by composers Josh Oxford, David Biedenbender, Marco Schirripa, Peter Learn, and Gordon Stout. Emily can be heard performing with the University of Michigan Symphony Band on their recently released CD, Points of Departure (Equilibrium Records), and with the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra on their soon to be released Rite of Spring CD. Emily recently completed her doctorate in flute performance, studying with Carol Wincenc at Stony Brook University. Emily earned her B.M. from Ithaca College, and completed her Masters of Music at the University of Michigan, under the direction of flutist Amy Porter.
Passionate about music education, Emily has maintained a private flute studio since 2009. Emily's studio has been home to flute students of all ages and abilities.
