New Brannen Brothers Flutes
Since Brannen Brothers was founded in 1978, they have earned a worldwide reputation for unsurpassed excellence. There is no doubt about their place in the market; discerning flutists have placed them squarely at the top. All Brannen Brothers flutes feature soldered tone holes, and are fully customizable to your specifications. Recently, Brannen launched a partnership with the famous French headjoint maker JR Lafin. These world-class headjoints are now available for purchase separately, or on any Brannen Brothers Flute. All Brannen Brothers flutes use the scale developed by their Vice-President Emeritus, Albert Cooper. The Brögger Flute, their most well-known, popular instrument, combines the traditional fingerings of the Boehm system with the enormous advantages of the Brögger Mekanik™, developed by Danish flute-maker Johan Brögger. This mechanism increases the reliability of the key work and reduces internal friction, allowing keys to be adjusted much more closely to individual preferences.
Brannen Brothers also produces two unique lines of flutes: The "Orchestral Model" flute and the "Kingma System" flute. The "Orchestral Model," designed by Albert Cooper, improves intonation and response in the third register both by altering the size and placement of several left hand tone holes and incorporating a half-closing thumb mechanism. Available in sterling silver, 10K gold, or 14K gold, the Orchestral Model comes with C# trill key and split E mechanism standard, and features a closed hole (Plateau) left hand with an open hole (French) right hand. A collaboration between Bickford Brannen and famous Dutch Flute-maker Eva Kingma, the "Kingma System" flute is the first C flute to offer a complete quarter-tone scale and fully chromatic multi-phonic venting while still maintaining the ability to play traditional flute repertoire. Because of the increased venting ability, the Kingma System flute offers superb pitch control. All Kingma System flutes use a traditional Brannen pinned mechanism and are available in sterling silver, 10K gold, or 14K gold.
