While Raines made no attempt to write music of a Native American nature, there is no escaping the influence. Perhaps better described as a distillation of Native American music through the mind of the composer, Kokopelli follows the eons-long tradition of combining flutes and percussion, here having the flutists play simple percussion parts on easily accessible instruments.
