Repair Technician
Eduardo Caicedo is a Colombian flutist and woodwind specialist repair technician who graduated from the Musical Studies program of Central University of Colombia. He earned his Master's degree in flute performance from EAFIT University in Medellín. Eduardo undertook training in woodwind instrument repair in several places. In 2019 he was granted authorization as the Senior Advanced Straubinger Technician Instructor for Latin America, to train new repair technicians in specialized Straubinger flute padding techniques.
Eduardo has trained and received certification by Burkart Flutes and Piccolos, Paul Nordby Bassoons, Fox Renard Bassoons and Oboes, Sax ProShop Music medic and Yamaha. He has given speeches at several international repair events and flute festivals including; the International Flutist Festival of the National Conservatory of Peru in 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2018. Exhibitor at the 3rd and 4th International Winds Repair Seminar in Perú in 2014 organized by YAMAHA MUSIC L.A. He also participated as a trainer in the International Repair Seminar in São Paulo Brazil, 2017. Eduardo has trained technicians for Yamaha Latin America in different countries and Events. He participated in the International Festival of Flutists in the Middle of the World Quito, Ecuador, in 2012. In April 2017 at the meeting of Flutists from the Dominican Republic Flautístico Nymph Project. As a Performer, he has played Flute and woodwinds around the world joining different groups and projects in countries such as Panama, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Perú.

What made you interested in learning flute repair?
I had a really bad flute when I was young and in Colombia it was so expensive to repair it, so I had to learn how to repair it and now I just love my job.
