Muramatsu Handmade Flute Model DS - New

$10,500.00 USD

Muramatsu Headjoint Styles

Muramatsu offers two headjoint styles: Traditional and Tsubasa

Traditional Headjoint

Muramatsu's traditional headjoint design has a dark, warm sound that is even and consistent throughout all registers.

Tsubasa Headjoint

The tsubasa “wing” head joint  is a design with subtle risers running out each side of the front of the embouchure hole. These tiny bumpers enhance clarity and depth of the sound for some players.

What a lovely instrument!

The Flute Center sent me half a dozen flutes and head joints over a period of weeks and gave me plenty of time to really get to grips with them, The Muramatsu was my favorite although the decision was hard! A lovely flute to play with a depth of sound throughout the range. I was also very happy with their standard head joint and didn't need to spend extra money finding something else.
I have now been playing on my new flute for a couple of months and it just gets better and better!!

This is one "sick" flute, and that's a good thing

I've had this mura DS (with split E) for several months (purchased new) and it's a beast. Like any pro flute you need time to adjust and really open up new tone colors you never heard before (or seen, lol). The build is impeccable and really makes you want to play more. I'm also a sax player (and clarinet) so sometimes it's a battle as to which I should practice more. The Mura is always the biggest enticement of the arsenal. I also own a Pearl Elegante Coda (solid gold lip plate and all the other bells and whistles known to flute-kind). It's the one I take to gigs just in case and it plays great too. I imagine the top of the Pearl line flutes are quite compatible with Mura (the Japanese know how to do it). My point here is don't hesitate on the DS model. Treat yourself to all solid silver---a little more money but you deserve it.
