Purchasing a new flute is a huge decision, not unlike choosing a life partner! But when you know, you know. I wasn’t looking for love, but it found me in the form of a 10k Haynes from Flute Center. Even after I had played the instrument I ultimately ended up purchasing, I tried MANY more flutes from a variety of dealers. I kept coming back to this one. Kim was patient, accommodating, communicative, and helped coordinate custom modifications to the instrument directly with Haynes. I was able to purchase my new flute with total confidence not only that I had found an instrument I LOVED playing, but that Flute Center’s warranty program would cover any maintenance during the initial break-in period, and that I’d made an informed decision thanks to their generous trial policies. It can take some time to find THE ONE, but lasting love is worth the wait.❤️

I have played a variety of flutes in the past 70(!) years: Armstrong, Haynes, Yamaha, John Lund, etc. This Powell flute is the flute of my dreams. It was especially efficient to come to the NYC Flute Center, provide my price range, and work my way through a variety of flutes, plus choose a head joint. I could take as much time as I wanted, and I was given advice regarding the flutes throughout the process. This is the first flute where it's taken little adjustment time once I had it home. As a senior with arthritis, it turned out to be the perfect choice. I highly recommend the Flute Center. My only regret--that I didn't do this years ago!

My experience at Flute Center was wonderful!

I didn’t buy this instrument without a lot of thought beforehand. The price was a big leap for me so by necessity there was a 5 month wait from deciding to go for it and pulling the lever. I had to sell a few treasures and also add to that with slicing off a bit of my meager income while waiting. This was the absolute highest I could afford to pay and, turned out it was worth every penny. This was a step up from an intermediate machine made, plated Yamaha that wasn’t a bad flute but sounded pretty thin compared to recordings of pro players I’d been listening to. Yes, technique is a big factor in the tone these players achieve but so were the instruments they were playing. And yes, many are playing $50-$100K beauties, and surely deserve them, but I’m as happy with my investment as they likely are with theirs. I’ll be gleefully playing my Muramatsu as long as I have the breath to do so. It’s got a slightly dark tone that is exactly what I was looking for. Low notes and harmonics alike are more alive than I’d been used to. And it’s also just a beautiful, intricately crafted piece that’s eye popping to look at as well. So yeah, I’m really pleased.
Also a big thanks to The Flute Center for getting it out to me so fast. I noticed that they got a lot of love from the online community which influenced my decision on where to purchase. Turned out to be another great choice.

This piccolo has been amazing, the scale and tonal depth I can achieve from it is insane for its price! I know this will eventually be a good back up for a future upgrade and I plan to stick with the Burkart brand! The FC has been wonderful in assisting me with my piccolo and I’m very thankful for the staff!
