Alex Xeros is a native of Oregon and graduate of Willamette University where he studied with Sarah Tiedemann. During his time at Willamette he was a concerto soloist with the Salem Chamber Orchestra, principal flute of the University Chamber Orchestra and assistant principal flute of the Salem Chamber Orchestra. Upon graduation Alex continued his studies with Alicia DiDonato Paulsen, Assistant Principal of the Oregon Symphony Orchestra, and Sydney Carlson, Principal of the Portland Opera Orchestra and Professor of Flute at Portland State University.
Alex has participated in the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival at the Juilliard School and has also participated multiple times in the Woodwinds at Wallowa Lake Music Camp in Joseph, Oregon working with principal musicians of the Oregon Symphony. He has also participated in masterclasses conducted by Paula Robison, Tara Helen O’Connor, Jill Felber, Judy Mendenhall, and Keith Underwood. Before relocating to North Carolina, Alex was principal flute of the Grande Ronde Symphony Orchestra in La Grande, Oregon during their 2013/2014 season. Alex has also performed multiple times at the National Flute Association Convention.
Alex has spent over six years in the flute industry. Previously working for JL Smith and Flute World, he now works for Flute Center of New York where he continues to work with fellow musicians to pair them with the perfect instrument. Outside of this work, Alex is a cycling enthusiast and participates in the 24 Foundation’s annual bike-a-thon to raise money for cancer patients and their families. Alex also enjoys, traveling to new places, tennis, cooking, gardening, karaoke, and video games when time allows.
Alex teaches privately to students of all ages and free lances in the New York City area.
