Ian Boschen is a professional musician with over 25 years of experience performing and teaching woodwind instruments. With a Bachelor of Music (BMus) degree in music performance and music theory, Ian specializes in flute, oboe, clarinet, and saxophone.
As the principal oboist with the Rockland Symphony Orchestra, Ian's technical mastery and musical artistry have made him a respected and sought-after performer in the Hudson Valley. In addition to performing with the RSO, Ian plays oboe with the Rockland County Concert Band, is a substitute on alto and tenor saxophone with Reflections Jazz and Swing Orchestra, plays alto saxophone with the You Bet Your Brass marching band, and is a founding member of the Hudson Valley Wind and Brass Ensemble where he plays flute, oboe, clarinet, and saxophone.
Ian’s true passion is musical theatre, and he has performed in the pit orchestra for more than two-dozen musicals in the tri-state area. Most recently, Ian played the Reed 2 book (piccolo, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone) for Gypsy at the American Theatre of Actors (ATA).
Ian holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Columbia Business School with a focus in Decision, Risk, and Operations, and he brings over 20 years of Business Operations experience to the Repairs Department at Flute Center.
