This is such a smooth, beautiful flute. All the reviews praising the 801 are spot on. It feels so good in the hands and makes a lovely sound. The 801 is just so easy to play, and the flute makes you WANT to play. Just absolutely stellar.
I just got this flute today, and I am very pleased with it. I've been playing a Yamaha 222 for about 2-3 years now, and this flute is definitely a great step up from it. It is easy to play, and the mechanism works smoothly. It's also easy for me to play in the high register, with the notes sounding beautiful. The lower register is nice and lush. I would recommend this flute to anybody looking to advance from a student flute to one better suited for intermediate/pre-professional players. As someone who will be entering college next year, I am confident that this flute will serve me well in concert and symphonic bands. It is truly a great instrument and is well worth the price.
Clear tone, clean articulations, easy to press mechanism; this was definitely everything I could wish for after outgrowing my beginner flute. Would definitely recommend to anyone seeking a high quality instrument for a cheaper price!

I love my new Di Zhao. I trialed one last summer and I knew I wanted to upgrade my Yamaha 577-H. I love the throaty tone, the feel of the keys, and the bouncy release of the keys. My only frustration is that the flute I bought had the same problem as the one I trialed—the foot joint is way too tight on the flute body. I had to take it to my local repair shop to get it adjusted. I alerted Alex to my concern when I ordered the purchase, but apparently this is just how they come from the factory. So just be forewarned. But if that’s the only quibble I have you gotta know I am happy!
I was very pleased with this flute. If I'd had an intermediate flute like this as a young guy, I'd have kept playing. It's a bit of an adjustment; but both high and low notes are much easier and cleaner, as well as having a great tone.
It's also a nice price point.
what is the difference between the de zhao 701 and 801?
Hello! The main difference between the Di Zhao 701 and the Di Zhao 801 is that the 701 comes with Y-style key arms, while the 801 has pointed key arms. The 801 also has more option available, including headjoint upgrades, as well as C# trill key and D# roller.
Hello!! Does this flute come with the case displayed or a different one? I’ve seen the wooden case in 3 different reviews, one person said they bought it. Gina Luciana, on youtube, reviewed this model along with 401/601 and mentioned it came with the wooden case. Which case does it come with?
