David Sheppard, Master Repair Technician

Master Repair Technician

David Sheppard is a highly accomplished and dedicated repair technician with a profound passion for his craft. Graduating with an AA from San Jacinto College under the tutelage of Dr. Randy Snyder, he further pursued his BMA EDU at the University of Houston, guided by Dr. Karen Wylie. David's journey began as a part-time repair technician at Fleming Instrument Repair in Houston, where his talent quickly shone. Transitioning to a full-time role, he honed his skills during an apprenticeship at H&H Music in Spring, Texas, for a decade. Known for his exceptional work and customer service, he gained a reputation in the industry.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge, David sought out specialized training, including Straubinger installation and advanced flute repair with Adam Martinez at Custom Woodwinds. He achieved his Straubinger certification alongside David and Joel Straubinger. This pivotal accomplishment led him to establish a repair studio focused on the needs of professional players and their instruments. Embracing a meticulous approach, David envisioned each instrument as a patient, ensuring it received the utmost care.

As his expertise flourished, David eagerly sought guidance from esteemed instrument makers and renowned repair technicians, including Muramatsu America, Brannen, Selmer Paris, Yamaha, Keilwerth, Buffet, Wayne and Shelly Tanabe, Tomoji, Tim Clark, Melanie Wong, Guy Chadash, Curt Alterac, Theo Wanne, and others. He delved into valuable literature by Theobald Bohm and Robert Schmidt while engaging in constant communication with technicians to enhance his knowledge.

Driven by a deep commitment to his customers' satisfaction, David's relentless pursuit of excellence led him to join Ft. Bend Music as the Repair Dept. Manager. In this role, he elevated the store's offerings and focused on his own burgeoning custom repair shop. Over the next five years, he became the sole technician in Texas to achieve certifications from Muramatsu and Schmidt Pad, in addition to his existing credentials.

David Sheppard's unwavering dedication, diverse expertise, and comprehensive skill set make him a trusted and sought-after repair technician in the industry. With a relentless pursuit of perfection and a commitment to customer satisfaction, he consistently ensures that his customers' instruments perform at their absolute best.
